    Good App… but they have terrible customer service. Basically ripped me off of a couple of expensive maps… quite honestly the impression that they gave was that they could care less. Basically said, sorry nothing we can do!

    Whatever they did to update their app really messed up the map. If I select hiking trails only, biking only or rafting only it still shows all of them at once! Please fix

    TLDR— if you get approached by a mentally deranged person in the wilderness that is threatening to kill herself and others, DO NOT POST WARNINGS IN THE APP FOR OTHER HIKERS. You will be banned for it. It is absolutely a concern that we live in an age where you can’t post a valid concern in a social setting. Just Call the police, even if you don’t usually. Kinda weird they chose to take sides in a situation where I was warning hikers of a mentally deranged woman threatening to kill herself and other hikers in their sleep. They chose to ban me for posting this warning in the app. I really wouldn’t recommend a service that chooses sides. Especially considering that same mentally deranged woman is spamming other platforms 2 years later about thisand I haven’t spoke to her in 2 years, she’s salty and I am now having to obtain a restraining order. Quite funny how the world works. Anyways yeah I’m still banned for posting these warnings but there are people repetitively posting warnings on the app in all sorts of ways, remember the dude hiking with a spear? I met him and it looked like a gardening tool. There were so many warnings posted despite this being a literal child. So yeah I wouldn’t take this provider serious as they censor people with valid concerns and take sides with manipulative people who desperately make themselves appear to be victimized.

    A must companion on the AT. Helpful do milage,altitude, next shelter and water sources. Quick and easy referencing. Very intuitive with up to date information on the trail.

  • No GPX export??

    Wow, bought a section of the AT and then learned I can’t export routes to my GPS watch. Are you kidding. That’s crazy and makes this borderline useless.

    This app was crucial to planning trips in this area. I thought it was really cool that somehow I could even use it to track my location on the route in real time when my phone signal strength was down to “SOS only”. Very helpful app and love that users can posts comments on the route to offer their experience at specific points.

  • Detailed AZT map

    Honestly the only app to use for the AZT. Comments can save peoples lives about water sources.

    I have purchased several of the guides, and even hiked with the founder on the PCT in 2010. I purchased the complete CDT guide and when I attempted to use it a few years later, they said I would need to provide proof. The purchase did not show in my purchase history on the Apple App Store, but I was able to find a receipt in my email. But only for the NM section, as I purchased sections as I hiked. Far out would not restore the purchase, even though they should have documentation, or they could contact the Apple App Store to figure out what’s going wrong on their end. This was not my problem, but became my problem. I will not purchase another FarOut app in the future.

    I used this app on the John Muir Trail, honestly it worked great, that is until about 5 days or so of using it when all of the sudden the entire app would just freeze whenever I’d click anywhere on the screen. Even after refreshing my phone multiple times it still did the same thing and even after the most recent update it’s still doing it, has anyone else had this problem? It’s a bummer because I will say the app was working, it does sound like a lot of bugs could be fixed based on other peoples reviews. Until these problem are solved there are certainly much more reliable apps to be used for navigation, hopefully these comments provide an incentive.
