This app used to be really reliable a few years ago, now they use AI that is constantly wrong and then so called “experts” rarely are even close to right. I see more dislikes on answers than likes and when you try to give them feedback they just send you a robot apology. Completely not worth the money, save yourself the headache.
  • App is totally useless now

After a recent update they changed the way that you can view similar questions. When you post a question, it’s very typical that the solution it gives you would be for a slightly different problem, and you could click “review similar questions” and find the actual question you’re looking for that matches the one you want. You can no longer do this because now when you click that button it doesn’t search for similar questions to the one you posted, it searched for similar questions based on the description of the one it already gave you. So if I send in a math problem, and someone sent a similar math problem with the description of “help!” And I want to find the similar questions because the question it gave me was for a slightly different question, the similar questions are all random questions that have the description “help” and have nothing to do with the math question i am looking for. This makes the entire point of the app 100 percent useless because the software for all of your homework is going to change the numbers in your problems slightly and chegg no longer allows you to view similar problems until you find the match. This is such an obvious thing for them to miss when they purposely changed the system so it’s very obvious that the whole point of this change was to force you to use up your 20 questions any time you want an answer since you can no longer view them as you could before and they are trying to force you to buy more accounts to get more questions. I won’t be renewing my subscription because the app literally does not even work anymore after this update.

Why is there a robot answering a question I’m paying for? Especially when the answers are wrong majority of the time. I could also use AI for free so why are y’all tryna scam lol

I genuinely don’t rate apps at all but I am so sick of this app. If I could give this 0 stars I would. As a stem student, I have to practice problems (from textbooks, website practice) constantly and sometimes when I can’t get a practice problem right I use chegg. NOT ANYMORE. AI is now used in the app and it made it completely worse. Instead of getting help from actual tutors on the app there is just AI responses that half of the time are wrong. Also when you try to get “more similar responses” it always says “none available”. Everything is disorganized in the app. Please don’t waste your money on this pathetic app. I am switching to BartleBy as it is far better than this AI app. I guess chegg didn’t want to spend money on paying tutors for the app and decided to ditch them and use AI? Who knows.

Ever since they incorporated ai, every single answer and explanation has been incorrect and even if you sent the question to an “expert” it takes them a day to answer only for them to answer with an incorrect ai generated answer. Used to be an amazing service and now it’s just $16 dollars a month for a worse version of ChatGPT.

As a STEM student Chegg used to be my go-to for getting solutions in challenging courses like physics and organic chemistry, because the responses were from real-life experts that provided the correct answer ≈98% of the time. But now that they incorporated AI, you’re lucky to ever get a correct response. Even though AI could be great for broader topics and questions with answers that could involve multiple interpretations, I don’t think the developers realize that it just can’t do science or more complex material at all. That’s the reason most students even use the app, otherwise the question could be typed into chat bots like GPT (with no wait time either). For the price it’s kind of ridiculous that the app has chosen to take this route. They’ve also mentioned in responses to others that you could just downvote the AI-powered response and have the question forwarded to a real person, but there are so many issues with that. First of all there’s no option to initially post the question and have it be blocked from AI answering it. It also adds unnecessary time in waiting for a response because at this point almost every question I post that’s been answered by AI has been wrong, so forwarding it to a real person is inevitable. The majority of students also use Chegg to search up questions that many have already asked, and the AI responses have fully clogged the app to the point where there are so many answers to that one question, most of them answered by AI (who will likely give the exact same answer every time), and most of them incorrect. Usually these responses would have no upvotes or downvotes either, because like I said there’s so many of them, so it’s impossible to tell if it’s the correct answer. If any developers come across this review, please take the criticism and work on restoring the app’s effectiveness and reliability.
