  • Best and most informative birding app

I can’t say i’ve tried them all but i can say this is the best of the ones i’ve used. It is by far the most comprehensive and informational, with tremendous ease of information access in all the subheadings right on one page at the bottom. I have found it more useful than Merlin, Audubon, allaboutbirds.

Paid for the app then they moved to a subscription model. Want me to subscribe to an app I have already paid for but apparently “do not own”. So the developers decided that was ok to screw over people who had paid in good faith. The offered a monthly or an annual subscription. But I guess given the blow back they now offer a “lifetime” subscription. I thought that’s what I had. They want to sell me it again. No thanks. I’m still in the first lifetime, but apparently that doesn’t count. Keep away from these people.
  • Shady switch to forced subscription

After selling expensive “lifetime” access to app. Blamed it on Apple and offered nominal discount to subscribe.

The app is a great birding app but……. I purchased this app quite a while ago. Suddenly I cannot open it. It gives me the option to get a “Free Trial” or “Restore Purchases”. Obviously because I already paid for the app I chose “Restore Purchases” and then it tells me “there is no record of a subscription” and that’s it….no other choices. Too pricey of an app to have to have to purchase it a second time.
  • Why Am I Paying Again?

I paid for iBird Pro ultimate years ago for a lifetime membership and now I have to pay a monthly fee?! What in the world did I pay all that money for?! Their site says “we changed from a paid app to a subscription based app…” That’s STILL a paid app! The calls/songs used to be so much better, a much higher quality, now it sounds like any yokel can upload… I thought this all was basically a porting of that already available on Cornell’s Ornithology Lab store? It’s not the same as it was, this is for sure.
  • Slimy and duplicitous update

DO NOT UPDATE. After many years of longing, I bought iBird Pro in February and now, just five months later, it's useless. Now, after the update, the only thing that displays is an advertisement for a subscription. The advertisement is not dismissible either. It's shameful Apple still let's updates like this through the App Store. This isn't an update; it's a different product. Why would the makers disable existing pro customers when they've decided to switch business models? Gross. I think this "update" is both slimy and duplicitous.
  • Big mistake! iBird now a subscription

I’m more aggravated every time I think about using iBird Pro. Most developers treat customers that bought the app as grandfathered. But, iBird decided to switch all users to the subscription model. The app is good, but some other apps are good, too. If iBird would invoke grandfathering, I’d give the app good ratings.
  • Horrible scam artist developers

The made it into a subscription and removed access for previous owners of the app. And now I see they offer a "lifetime subscription"??? And yet when I bought the app years ago that's what I was promised? Absolutely terrible, I'll boycott all their products for as long as I live.
  • Shameless and Deserves a Lawsuit

You charged $30 for the original app purchase I’ve used a decade then nullified this purchase by essentially cancelling it in an update that forces everyone to a subscription model, thereby pulling the rug out from under thousands who purchased it. So much for learning about nature and avian conservation, just shameless pure greed. And you now have the nerve to offer a $60 so called lifetime purchase after you breached the older purchases of thousands of customers. Why should anyone trust you? This warrants a class action lawsuit for breach of contract. I will no longer mention this app to anyone in the bird community and higher ed but will steer them all to other apps. Shame on you!
  • Unusable! Current annual subscription ignored

I have 8 months left on an annual subscription, paid for and showing in my iPhone subscriptions page. The app, however, says none exists, and the developer has failed to respond to my email, to which I attached a screenshot showing my subscription. I cannot even half-heartedly recommend this app, since they have so flagrantly taken money for a service that they failed to provide.
