وصف التطبيق

Castro is a beautiful, full-featured podcast player that makes it easy to track and manage lots of podcasts at the same time. Only listen to the episodes you want and easily skip the rest, queue up hours of podcasts at a time and enjoy a seamless listening experience with carplay compatibility, chapter support, trim silence and much, much more! HOW IT WORKS 1. New episodes land in the NEW tab. Read their descriptions, add episodes you like to your QUEUE, and clear the rest. 2. Press play to listen to episodes from your QUEUE in order. Queued episodes are downloaded automatically. 3. Re-order your QUEUE to plan your next few hours of listening at any time. Browse your LIBRARY to review the back catalogue, quickly access starred shows, and see your listening history. Subscribing to a podcast is no longer a commitment to listen to every episode. You don’t have to manage a huge list of subscriptions or choose a few shows and miss the rest. WHY OUR USERS LOVE CASTRO • Drag and drop podcasts to plan your listening with Castro’s unique queue • An elegant dark mode and thoughtfully designed sleep timer offer the best in night time podcast listening. • CarPlay support makes it easy to pick up where you left off while driving. • Apple Watch app to control playback and select another episode from your queue. • Episode notifications include a summary of the episode to help you decide if it interests you. Play, queue or clear the episode directly from the notification without opening the app. CASTRO PLUS Castro Plus is an optional paid subscription available for $29.99/year (includes a one-week trial). Plus unlocks a range of advanced features: • Trim Silence — With this option on, the app will analyze audio as it plays to detect silent parts and accelerate those parts. Get through more episodes faster. • Enhance Voices improves the listening experience for many podcasts and makes it easier to hear in loud environments. Under the hood, Enhance Voices applies a dynamic compressor to increase volume just where it’s needed. • Sideloading: Import audio files directly, just by dropping them in iCloud Drive • Mono-Mix — Mixes a stereo podcast to mono, which makes it easier to hear podcasts that pan some guests on left/right channels. • Chapter Support: Artwork, Skipping & Pre-selection. • Custom settings per-podcast: Episode Limit, Trim Silence, Enhance Voices, Mono Mix, Skip Intros, Playback Speed. WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING “Castro 3 is an incredible app.” — The Sweet Setup “Castro 3 is everything Castro already was, but better.” — MacStories Castro 3 Is a Great Modern Podcast App” — Beautiful Pixels “Unlike other podcatchers, Castro's primary virtue is its simplicity and ease of use. Prices are in US dollars and may vary in countries other than the US. Castro Plus is charged to your iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase. It will renew on the day before the current subscription period ends. You can cancel auto-renewal any time from the Castro settings screen. You can switch between the two subscription periods after you pick one, but your trial period will end immediately if you do, so it's best to wait till your free week is over before changing. Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period. Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Account Settings after purchase. • My favorite podcast app, but please develop macOS and ipadOS clients!

All things considered this is the most user-friendly yet feature-rich podcast app I've used. The iPhone and Apple Watch clients are both excellent. I really wish there were native clients for iPadOS and macOS, though. Other features that would be fantastic: - Sideload downloads to Apple Watch over cellular not dependent on iPhone. - Ability to source Sideloads from other cloud providers besides iCloud (more often than not iCloud doesn't download them in time for the information to not be stale, if it ever downloads them) - Ability to source podcasts directly from a .xml file (i.e. if I add http://192.168.50.10:4321/feed.xml, don't tell me it's not a valid podcast just because Castro's servers don't have access!)
  • Stopped working

I open this app early this morning and the feed from the app displays no content (or even UI). I have tried for hours and it doesn’t work. Not good.
  • Waiting for new owners to get everything fixed

I really like Castro. One of the things I like most about it is how well it integrates with the rest of the Apple ecosystem, especially Shortcuts. Frustratingly, that integration has been collateral damage in the neglect and, now, ownership transition of the app. Some of the key Castro shortcut actions no longer work, throwing a “Problem communicating with the app” error. I’m pretty skilled with Shortcuts but that’s an issue that can only be resolved by the developers, as it seems to be related to the API or servers. I’m not giving up on Castro yet - I know it takes time to clean things up - but I do hope this particular issue is resolved shortly. Will revise review in a week or so.

If you want to subscribe to a ton of podcasts but selectively listen to certain episodes, this app makes it super-easy. My favorite podcast app (and I've tried them all).
  • Please support this app!!!

This is by far the best podcast app for me. I have been using it for years. The watch app can no longer control the volume, which is a must have for me. Please fix this!

I’m a longtime Castro user and couldn’t be happier. There are many features that I love about it, but if I could only pick one, it would be the relationship between the inbox and the queue. All new episodes of podcast you subscribe to are loaded into the inbox. From there you get to choose which ones you put in your queue to listen to and which ones you discard. that alone makes the podcast jungle manageable. If you love a podcast, you can set it to automatically load into your queue whenever a new one arrives. In the queue, it’s a simple drag and drop operation to set the order in which the podcasts play. The standard trim silence and enhance voices is available, but more exclusively you can sideload and clip for a subscription fee that amounts to about $1.50 a month. Well worth it for regular podcast listeners. There was a brief moment while the app was in ownership transition that it was unstable (and I began the stages of grief), but that period seems to be over. I’ve had great response from customer service, and the app has performed beautifully since. I hope you will download the app, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
  • The best podcast app

Look no further. I tried a bunch and this one is the best by far. my one complaint is that the audio quality isn’t fantastic when you play it at faster speeds, but that’s by far my biggest complaint. Everything else about this app is great. I love how the queue feature works.
  • Second chance

I loved Castro for years. Finally, a podcast app with a design that made sense for me. I’ve used Overcast in the past and have been using it for the last several months, but it just doesn’t work for me in the same way. I was so upset with the outage that Castro had and swore I’d never be back. I heard the app is under new management and I hope they take care of it. Castro doesn’t need anything beyond a commitment to stability and TLC. I’ve downloaded Castro again and have signed up for a month of Plus. I’m pretty burned, but giving it a second chance
  • It’s back! New ownership gives me hope

Castro died and I missed it’s queue system terribly. Now it is back under new ownership and the problems from the last are being worked on steadily. Definitely my favorite podcast player; I hope very much the new owner gets the support needed to keep this going.
  • Update over complicates it’s main feature

Latest update/revamp has over complicated its main appeal, the queue and inbox system. UI is buggy. There is lag between actions when streaming to a HomePod that isn’t present in other podcast players. This was once my favorite and most used app. I’ve since moved on. Being a subscription app, an expensive one at that, months go by without an update. Unacceptable. Not worth your time or money.
